The oil cooler is a key component in the oil circulation system of the screw air compressor. It is responsible for cooling the lubricating oil to maintain the oil temperature required for the normal operation of the air compressor. The working principle of the oil cooler is to use the cooling medium (which can be air or water) to absorb the heat carried by the lubricating oil, thereby reducing the oil temperature.
There are two main cooling methods for oil coolers: air cooling and water cooling. In air-cooled oil coolers, the fins are easily covered with dust, which affects the cooling effect. In severe cases, the oil temperature may be too high and the machine may shut down automatically. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly blow away the dust on the fin surface with low-pressure air. If it cannot be blown away, it is necessary to use solvent to clean it to keep the heat dissipation surface of the cooler clean.
When the water-cooled oil cooler has blocked pipes, it is necessary to soak it with solvent and remove the scale in the pipe mechanically to ensure that it is completely clean. In addition, the oil filter equipped with a pressure differential transmitter can monitor whether the oil filter is blocked. If blocked, it will affect the oil supply of the main engine, causing the oil and gas temperature to rise, and shortening the life of the main engine's moving parts.
The temperature control valve is used in water-cooled compressors to control the bypass flow of lubricating oil through the cooler to ensure that the oil and gas temperature is higher than the pressure dew point temperature during load operation, avoiding the precipitation of condensed water in the oil and gas separator and cooler due to the low injection temperature, which affects the quality and service life of the lubricating oil.
In general, the oil cooler is an indispensable part of the screw air compressor oil circulation system, cooling the lubricating oil, sealing and lubricating the main engine, and reducing internal leakage. Regular inspection and maintenance of the oil cooler can ensure the stable operation of the screw air compressor and extend the life of the equipment.
