What is the working principle of an air compressor?
Jul 22 , 2024

The working principle of an air compressor is usually based on the following basic steps:

1.Suction: During the suction phase of an air compressor, air enters the suction port of the compressor, ready to be compressed.

2.Compression: After the air is sucked in, it is compressed through the mechanical movement inside the compressor (such as piston movement, screw rotation, etc.). In this process, the volume of the air decreases, the density increases, and the pressure rises.

3.Exhaust: The compressed air is discharged through the exhaust port, and the air pressure is much higher than the initial state.

Air compressors can be divided into several main types according to their working principles and structural designs:

Reciprocating compressor: uses the reciprocating motion of a piston in a cylinder to compress air, suitable for small and medium power requirements.

Rotary screw compressor: Two intermeshing screws rotate to compress and discharge air, suitable for continuous operation and larger power requirements.

Centrifugal compressor: uses a high-speed rotating impeller to accelerate and compress air, suitable for large-scale industrial applications.

Turbo compressor: The high-speed rotation of the turbine generates centrifugal force to compress the air.
